 [24 hour site specific theatre project]

Who: Zeitgeist Theatre Collective calls for submissions from professional, indie and emerging theatre companies as well as independent actors, playwrights, directors and designers.

 What: Artists will work collectively in groups to create an original 10-15 minute site specific performance piece inspired by their dedicated space. Pieces will be performed in cycles for an audience Friday, September 30^th beginning at 7 p.m.

When: Play creation begins at 7 pm, Thursday September 29^th. Cycles of performances begin 7pm September 30^th and conclude at 11 pm, September 30^th.

Where: Play creation and performances will take place on site at Les Ateliers Jean Brillant – 3550 St. Jacques Ouest (a converted warehouse 2mins from Lionel Grioulx metro)

Why: An artistic challenge and experience bringing together Montreal artists in a time-based site-responsive setting.

Urgently Seeking Actress – Zeitgeist Theatre Collective

URGENTLY SEEKING ACTRESS FOR UNFIT FOR BEARS – Opening September 14th, 2011
 
Info about Joss and the role:
 
She is 40+ and serving the last few months of a life sentence in prison (twenty years) for manslaughter. She murdered her abusive comman law spouse.
 
She is heavily involved with the Prisoner’s advocacy group and works on the inside to fight injustices in the prison.
 
Her lover, Sam recently committed suicide in the segregation unit of the prison.Joss is fighting for an inquiry about her death.

Joss is a mama bear. She is loving, patient and generous, but fierce and agressive when defensive.
 
This role, though part of an ensemble, will be challenging on many levels. There is quite a bit of text to learn. The subject matter is tough and time is limited.
 
What we need in an actress:
 
-a strong, experienced actress who can make bold choices early on and commit full heartedly to this project.
 
– available to start rehearsal asap. Availalable for show dates from September 13th-September 24th – evening and matinee performances

Audition Notice: Female Actor

Zeitgeist Theatre Collective is seeking a female actor for its upcoming autumn production of Unfit for Bears: Stories from Canada’s Prison for Women, an original play by Julia Ainsworth.

We are casting for the role of Bobby, a young (18+) aboriginal inmate. This is a paid (non equity) contract with rehearsals beginning in July. The production opens September 14th. To apply for an audition please send a headshot and resume to zeitgeisttheatrecollective@gmail.com.
