Auditions: Jingju Canada, Crossroads. Non-equity

Casting Call for Jingju Canada’s Crossroads
Audition dates: Wednesday, April 17th 2012 (10am-1pm)
Jingju Canada is holding auditions for actors, dancers, fighters and clowns for a remounting of its highly acclaimed translation/adaptation of the traditional Peking Opera show – ‘Crossroads’
Seeking 3 actors (can audition solo, or as pair):
3 actors (non-Equity), must be comfortable performing in English.  Comedic and/or physical background(s) an asset.

General Information
Director: Shijia Jiang and Nicholas (Koy) Santillo
Union: Non-union
Total Contract: 1 paid performance guaranteed (for Government of Quebec) + potential for small tour
Rehearsals:  May – August. Unpaid, scheduled around cast availability. (10 hrs/wk average)
Performances:  Saturday August 11, 2012  with potential for more dates.
Please prepare one comedic scene (under 2 min for 1 person, under 4 min for 2 people) which showcases your verbal and/or physical skills.  Come prepared for movement.

Call for Submissions: Plosive Productions, Death and the Maiden

Plosive Productions is holding auditions for its production of Ariel Dorfman’s DEATH AND THE MAIDEN, to be performed at The Gladstone May 2-19, directed by Craig Walker. Actors may submit for consideration for any of the three roles.  Please submit résumé, headshot and a cover letter noting union status and availability for the audition date by email to info@plosive.ca.  Only actors selected for auditions will be contacted.

  • Gerardo Escobar — 30-45, her husband, a lawyer

Audition Notice: Female Actor

Zeitgeist Theatre Collective is seeking a female actor for its upcoming autumn production of Unfit for Bears: Stories from Canada’s Prison for Women, an original play by Julia Ainsworth.

We are casting for the role of Bobby, a young (18+) aboriginal inmate. This is a paid (non equity) contract with rehearsals beginning in July. The production opens September 14th. To apply for an audition please send a headshot and resume to zeitgeisttheatrecollective@gmail.com.
