Auditions: Brave New Productions

by QDF

Brave New Productions is currently looking for outstanding talent to perform in our Spring/Summer show. The run of the show will take place for one week (7 performances) during the end of May/beginning of June with rehearsals taking place 1-2 times a week from March onwards. Auditions will be scheduled for early February.

This is for an original comedy set on a fictional South American island. We are casting a variety of male roles, of all shapes and sizes, and we’re looking for exceptionally talented actors with an air of sophistication and the ability to perform as compelling politicians, corrupt, South American politicians.

This will be Brave New Productions 7th play. We still classify ourselves as a non-professional production company, so we’re looking for actors capable of bringing their best to rehearsals – but also a sense of fun and friendship. We believe that every step of the journey should be fun and also a learning process.

If this sounds like the role for you, we’d love to meet with you. Contact us at mail@bravenewproductions.com with a copy of your CV and headshot. We’ll get back to you by the end of the month to schedule a rehearsal. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us.

Deadline to submit is February 1, 2012.

This is a non-union opportunity, with some – but minimal – pay.

Audition: YoungCuts Film Festival, Non-Union actress for hosting gig

by QDF

The YoungCuts Film Festival is a not-for-profit with a mandate to find and create paid opportunities for young filmmakers and showcase “Great Short Films by the World’s Best Young Filmmakers 25 and Under”

YoungCuts is looking for a young Anglophone actress for a half-day, low budget shoot in Montreal to act as host/introducer for two TV 30 minute compilation shows of short films. (Host would be doing all the interstitial work).

There is a possibility that the 30 minute programs will end up on TV (a favour from one of our sponsors), so it is good exposure. (Our hostess budget for the half-day shoot is $125.)

 Non-union.

Interested applicants should contact James@YoungCuts.com 514-285-4591.  Please send resume and headshot.

Part 1 (Jan. 18) of this 2-part workshop mini series focuses on crafting an informative, context-rich and compelling pitch that “sells” you and your work with clarity and persuasion.

How to Write an Effective Artist Grant – Part 2 (Budgets & Timelines)
Part 2 (Jan. 25) of this 2-part workshop mini series focuses on the feasibility components of a grant application – cohesive, well-thought-out budgets and time-lines that adequately reflect the project from a time and money perspective.
